We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Arcadio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frank, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success would be persistence. Persistence is the key to the door that changed my life forever. Having a dream is one thing, but being able to make it a reality is a totally different ballgame! There were so many times that I faced rejection, failure and ended up without money due to self-investments. Oddly enough, that never stopped me… It only made me want my music that much more! It took me 14 years to get here and I am not ashamed of it. Most overnight success takes 10-15 years. Have patience! Never give up and watch how far you will go!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Music is my life. I’ve been working hard in this industry since I was 16 years old, making a name for myself.
My music is an infusion of the legendary sounds that came before me (Latin & Gospel) to create a supercharged, one of a kind experience.
I am most proud of the music I am creating right now with my incredible team: Linda Nelson, Charlie Walk, Lisa Einhorn-Gilder & Music Mastery Distribution.
I am thankful to Faye Stamper, Stevie Wonder, KJLH, Eboni Brown and Brent Jones for giving me my start in music. It wasn’t easy transitioning from choir to back-up to solo artist. It took years to earn that spot.
I learned that persistence and patience pays off. Don’t give up and you’ll get there. I also learned to not trust everyone so quickly and to get everything in writing!
I want the world to know that I will always use my voice and my music to lift up humanity. I will continue to fight for the rights of Black and Brown people and our LGBTQ+ family. I believe in equality for all.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friends to Puebla, Cholula, and Veracruz, Mexico. We would climb the pyramid of Cholula and enjoy the sights. We would then go to the zocalo in the city of Puebla and enjoy delicious mole poblano in a rustic style restaurant. We would also go shopping at places like Mercado Zapata and even Galerías Serdán. Then we would go to the zocalo in the city of Veracruz and enjoy some drinks by the ocean and munch on some delicious empanadas under the moonlight to a live danzón orchestra and we would dance the night away under the Mexican moonlight.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna give a shout-out to Faye Stamper. My earth angel! The woman who changed my life. She took me from bagging groceries to singing behind Stevie Wonder and other musical legends. She saved my life! I thank GOD for that wonderful woman every day.
