We had the good fortune of connecting with Jada Tsion and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jada, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
‘The Success Principles’. This book teaches you the value of taking 100% responsibility for your own life, changing your behaviors, recreating your life by choosing your higher self and being self-aware. This book serves a huge purpose in my life. I went through a rough transition between the months of December and March, whilst still experiencing this transition, I had to make a decision of staying in the space I was in emotionally and mentally or growing from the trauma I experienced and I didn’t know how to do that, I knew I wanted to get out of that space, I just didn’t know where to start. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge through reading, ‘The Success Principles’ and it’s gotten/getting me through a life-changing experience. “Taking 100% responsibility means you acknowledge that you create everything that happens to you. It means you understand that you are the cause of all of your experiences. Everything you think, say, and do needs to become intentional and aligned with your purpose, your values, and your goals.”
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Honestly, what sets me apart is my purpose/passion. I feel like, you have to have a passion and genuine love for what you’re doing; being an individual with your own path, your own desires, your own purpose, your own IDENTITY is enough to set you apart from the rest of the world. I would say I’m most proud MADE DIFFERENT is more than just apparel, you’re wearing a statement that sheds light on how you define yourself, allowing that definition to be whatever you make it. MADE DIFFERENT is for those who are not afraid of wearing the skin they are in and being comfortable, unapologetically. I think what sets us apart is our emphasis on highlighting the value of people’s differences, whether that be gender, sexuality, body shape, skin color or disability. Nothing worth something is easy, at all. Most times, I overcome challenges by believing things WILL work out for me the way that they should and what’s for me will always be for me. I’ve learned multiple lessons, however, I do have one that has been my favorite so far, “Things that you experience in life are supposed to happen. Nothing is a coincidence. Everything is in divine order and you have to trust that the universe is working alongside you and not against you.” I want people to know that, my main goal is to inspire and be relatable. I really want people to be comfortable in their own skin and embrace their raw, true selves no matter how they want to define themselves; the main goal is for people to be comfortable with themselves by embracing their differences aside from outside world opinions. Finding yourself through things that are relatable is so essential to my brand, you don’t feel alone, you feel like people can understand you and being understood is definitely a normal feeling humanity longs for. I’ve always been interested in fashion and I’ve always had a creative eye for aesthetics; I feel that through art, you can always express yourself non-verbally and what’s a better way of doing that than WEARING IT? I want people to know that it is okay to be different and be viewed as different and it’s okay to embrace that. People are afraid of being different and it shows. Social media has created a distorted reality of everything; such as, what beauty is, what’s “right,” what’s “wrong,” how to look, how not to look, what to wear and what not to, what’s sexy and what isn’t, there are so many rules being put on things that should be freely chosen without being afraid of the outcome or opinion. I want my line to inspire people to love their differences, their flaws, what’s “ugly” about them, the things that are perfectly imperfect. I feel like my line will help people embrace that and that’s the main goal and I’m excited to share with the world how beautiful it is to be imperfect.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to MIKE’S DELI on Slauson. They have the BEST sandwiches, made FRESH and they offer so many sandwich options. Mike’s Deli also serves the best grapes made by @ddztreats on Instagram! You can get a sandwich, chips, cookies, pies, puddings, and grapes all in the same restaurant!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother deserves all the credit in my story. She is and always has been my vessel and support system. No matter what I do, my mom is always there to support me and cheer me on. Growing older, I truly realize the importance of the mother/daughter relationship because it holds so much weight; the dynamic of the relationship becomes powerful when you realize that your parents are just as human as you are, experiencing the human experience, watering each other and watching each other grow is the most beautiful thing and I cherish my mother with all of my heart. I know that I can always depend on her. True definition of unconditional love.
