We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy “6” Austin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremy “6”, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
For me taking a risk means living without fear and since there is no success without taking risks I choose to live without fear. It really is a choice.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
If I told you my career has always been full of success I’d be lying. I suffered from addiction for many years And lost every ability to create and make people feel beautiful… I had been successful earlier in my career prior to being homeless and after a decision to get clean and sober I began to slowly pick back up the things that I could create with.
Literally one job turned into another and for every job I got I did the absolute best I could do no matter what.
Say yes to everything unless it doesn’t pay
Know your worth and never be afraid to put a price on your art.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think the greatest thing about living in Los Angeles is that you have everything at your fingertips … you could have breakfast at the beach, lunch in Hollywood and dinner downtown any day of the week. There are so many things to do at any given time ,
Go to Rocco’s or the Abby in West Hollywood they’re great places to people watch .
There’s a Mexican restaurant at the end of the pier in Santa Monica that I absolutely love… go hiking in Runyon Canyon or Griffith Park Observatory.
Oh, and Venice beach !
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor , Bashar Kallabat, in his life he touched many people’s lives and had an affect on all of us. I am a better person for having known him.
