We had the good fortune of connecting with KID and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KID, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process started from the heart in knowing that I wanted to position myself in life to bring about a change within utilizing my talent of art as a fashion art. Going with the nostalgia traditonal varsity jackets which carries a sense of substance and longevity.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Chicago Playground was birth in 2006. It was created with the intentions in knowing the value in what these iconic varsity jackets represent

Therefore, I found my niche in knowing that I wanted to bring something to the market that carries a sense of substance and longevity. With knowing back when I was in school, when someone was seen in a varsity jacket, you knew that they belonged to a certain organization, club, institution or group. From the colors to the chenille patch and embroidery details in which told a story.

So with being a ‘student of the game’, it allowed me to connect with the ‘like-minds’ and creators who understood my vision, read books and emulate myself after the GREATS.
I wouldn’t put a cap on if my journey has been hard or not. But can assure you much of my success has been based on ‘learning thyself’ and understanding the journey that I am on comes from a ‘HIGHER- POWER’, which allows me to be a servant to the market within using my ‘Talent of Art’ as a Fashion Artist that I’m known for today.

Some of the lessons I’ve been blessed to experience along this journey is to live in the moments. Allow yourself to be present. Often times as artist, we tend to work relentless where the moments in which we should cherish, we tend to already think about the next project in which we will like to conquer.
But growing and gaining more wisdom, it has allowed to resonate with the times that I am, because as an artist I feel we have a mission to live out in ‘REAL-TIME’ within appreciating our moments.

In regards to what I will like the world to behind me and the Chicago Playground brand, is we are are ONE. I am no different than you. The goal is to find thyself and let yourTalent of Art be a representation to who you are and what resonates in you. Because Art is nothing but an inner-expression shown on the outside. And the question to you is, How do you want to be remembered? Create with a sense of purpose and longevity.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
An outing with me with friends would consist of Museums, Live music and Nature. I love Fashion and Art Shows where we all can get a sense of inspiration and just good vibes and energy.
Being here in Los Angeles there as always pop up and day parties going on. So I’m sure we all would hang out there to connect with other creatives.
Overall, I generally like to entertain from an creative aspect and also open to other experiences too, that the friends may have as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout my Grandmother Harris who believed in my journey since day one. My son who is the motivation in setting the example of ‘hard-work’ and establishing generational-wealth
