We had the good fortune of connecting with Lex Casciato and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lex, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I got really tired of hearing “this is how it’s always been done…” when how “it’s always been done” isn’t working for music creators (artists, songwriters, producers, engineers, etc). I found that statement to be so uncreative and lacking innovation, so I decided to start my own music label run by artists with the goal of revolutionizing the music industry and helping artists get heard in a loud world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Visitor Records is an independent music label started by artists for artists working to bring humanity back to the music business one release at a time.

Having worked as an advocate for exploited youth, founder & music producer Lex Casciato (aka Little Warrior) couldn’t help but notice the exploitive nature of the music industry. She determined that Visitor Records would amplify rather than exploit fellow music artists.

At Visitor Records, we’re so fortunate to be able to offer The Orchard Distribution and artist management services to our artists, but we’re not just any other label… We’re proud to be a family of artists committed to fostering community, creativity, transparency, and authenticity. When an artist joins Visitor Records, they become part of a family that collaborates, edifies each in the creative process, volunteers to give back to our communities, and cares about the holistic health & wellness of one another.

At Visitor Records, we aim to bring you humanizing music to make a numb world feel again. The origins of our label name itself comes from the idea that we’re all just visiting this planet for a short period of time, and when we leave, our music & art will remain behind as a record that we once existed.

Thanks for visiting!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have two major shoutouts:

1) to Nick Gunn from Blue Dot Recordings – the label with whom I was previously releasing my music. He’s been a mentor to me as he’s given me the reigns to start my own independent music label and create my own roster of talented artists.

2) to the roster of artists coming onboard Visitor Records as the forerunners of talent on the label.

So far, these artists include:
– Tamika J. (R&B, singer/songwriter, roots)
– the dead room (alternative, progressive rock, indie rock)
– The New Kind (soul, spirituals, cinematic)
– Jamin Casciato (alternative, world, flamenco)
– BaOS (underground R&B, hip-hop, trap)
– Where’s Phyllis (folk rock, indie rock, alternative)
