We had the good fortune of connecting with Marina Haywood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marina, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I used to know no such thing. I truly loved my work, have a deep level of passion for my career and enjoy my clients. I felt I owed them my availability, something I put on myself . After a feeling of burnout , I had to ask myself – is it productive or does it feel good to dread going to work ? (A feeling I had never felt since working in my career) After finding that my clients were just fine If I wasn’t available, and the feeling of coming in refreshed and excited – I began to have a healthy addiction to this work life balance . In the hair industry it can be tough to pry yourself away during weekends and holidays (the busiest times)but the truth is , you will a better you for yourself, and your clients if you find a healthy balance . And don’t worry about the money (most of us don’t have paid time off) it all works itself out in the end!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets Studio 304 apart , is our constant eagerness to grow, keep up with trends , bring you cool new products and tailor our business to our clients . Anything worth having, is typically not “easy” . But definitely worth it . We have been lucky to have support since day 1 , when we had no clue if we would “make it” and have enough clients who would follow us. And we truly work at pleasing our clients and remaining humble and appreciative of their business.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shoutout to my amazing clients . They support me , inspire me and encourage me unconditionally . & to my bestie and business partner. For making our work environment so enjoyable and ever flowing. I never get sick of working with/ next to you !
