We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikael Oganes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mikael, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
I had a couple of hard decisions in my life.
One of them was leaving my entire family and friends in Israel and move to the USA all by myself with 4000 in my pocket to pursue a music career.
Sometimes I feel like if I would’ve offered to live my life again, I would’ve just chickened out because of the places I have been and the scenarios I have experienced (and still keep experiencing) are totally worthy of a thriller novel.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a music producer, I love doing drum n bass currently. I started as a classical pianist
Graduated USC with Artistic Diploma, then I started playing in bands while being a DJ. After a while, I joined a band in Texas called Seek Irony, but after they betrayed me by not signing my name in the contract and kinda pushed me out of the band, I left to play on Carnival cruise lines and traveled the world for a year. Since 2017 I’m in Los Angeles, CA making efforts to push the local music scene on to the next level!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to the underground parties, make them experience the wild side of the Los Angeles culture. I would also make sure to take them to the surfing spots and just give them a scenic adventure. Have them eat some of the best food in the world!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Big Shout out to my parents! Shoutout to my friends! Everyone who helped me along the way, everyone who pushed me to be a better version of myself. Shoutout to Max, my 8yo. Shoutout to LA and the DNB crew. Shoutout to my UK homies big ups the scene! Shoutout to Play me records and the crew. Shoutout to Pat Lundy! Shoutout to Sash Vardanyan! Shoutout to Reid Speed!
