We had the good fortune of connecting with Nisey Rashad and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nisey, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Communication is really important to me. If I can’t talk to you then it’s really just a waste of time.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think I’m a pretty average entertainer. I do all of the basic things like act, sing, write and ‘move well.’ What probably sets me apart is my message, which I find weird because I am still trying to figure that out. I would have to say I am most proud of the fact that I took a chance on myself and I’m still taking chances. At this point I believe the world is going to have it’s own opinion of me regardless of what I try to project. So I guess I would want the world to know I am a work in progress but you are more than welcomed to work with me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve only been here for two years and I spent one of them in the house. We can hit up all of the soul food restaurants on my UberEats history and anything else you can Google. I’m game.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicated this shoutout to all of my former students. You guys are the reason I feel confident enough today to speak my truth. Remember Ms. M —ll loves you.
