We had the good fortune of connecting with Shane Skaar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shane, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
With Streignth, we want to build the biggest platform of positivity as possible- inspiring others to create the greatest version of themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. The word “Streignth” has “REIGN” in the middle- meaning to “Reign from Within” and take control of all aspects of your life. Each launch we always try to have a unique theme- this past spring launch, The Relentless Collection, has been centered around Mental Health Awareness. It’s one thing to sell high quality clothes, but it’s much more meaningful when it can stand for something crucial in today’s society and in turn help others. As we continue to grow, we will always look for new opportunities to empower/inspire- whether that be through community events, themed launches, and donating percentages of profits to charities like the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline as we are with The Relentless Collection. Streignth has been able to grow so well and rapidly because of the people a part of it- we love and thrive for any/all chances we get to give back.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Streignth Sportswear is much more than just our high-quality and affordable clothing. We sell everything from hoodies, joggers, tee shirts, shorts, sports bras, biker shorts, hats, cropped tops, crew necks, and much more. When our customers rep Streignth, they’re not just wearing a lion logo- they’re carrying our MENTALITY and everything we stand for. We want our customers to look and feel phenomenal while adopting and living out our mindset of becoming a better version of yourself on a daily basis in all areas of life.
I believe our mission statement and the community that backs us is what truly sets us apart from others. Since starting in 2019, we have sold products in all 50 states and are approaching our first year over 6-figures in revenue which is very exciting. We wouldn’t be able continue thriving without the continuous day 1 support received from people here in La Crosse and The Midwest especially. Our quality and prices compete with our competitors like Gymshark and Alphalete- we make everything as affordable as possible so anybody can rep us. You don’t have to be a bodybuilder or in perfect shape to rep our brand- but we want you to possess our mentality of wanting to improve and grow in your life.
Consistent discipline, hard work, and surrounding ourselves with like-minded people have been the keys to getting to where we are today. I am a firm believer ANYONE can be whatever they want to be, but they must believe in themselves and be able to put in the work and time required. It’s amazing what can happen when you adapt a growth-mentality and hang out with people with the same goals as you.
In the end, we want to impact as many lives as possible and the world to know the Streignth Mentality. Too many people in today’s society grow complacent and do not aspire to be or obtain anything greater than their certain situations. The Streignth team encourages others to be happy with results you make, but always strive and look for things you can improve upon no matter how successful you become. Until I had my surgery in 2015, I had the lowest of low self-esteems, and I never believed in myself. I didn’t know if the operation would go successful as it could have failed, yet I knew I’d much rather regret not trying at all. Thankfully, it worked out for me, and it can and will work out for you too. Many times in life to get what you desire, all it takes is a an act of courage and a leap of faith.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
La Crosse is a gorgeous city. First, we’d go to Ignite Nutrition (run by my guy Austin Fritz) and grab a couple LIT teas. Next, we’d head to Riverside (the main park in the city) and shortly after head to Pettibone Beach for a couple hours and soak up some sun. After, we’d get a good pump in at my favorite gym called District 901, and after grab some food at Howie’s. While we let our food digest, I’d have to show them my apartment and shop set-up we’ve got for the Streignth HQ which is ran currently in my apartment’s living room with about a dozen shelving units. Lastly, we’d finish our endeavors with a hike at The Bluffs- what we are notorious for and is considered my favorite part of La Crosse. If you’re ever in La Crosse WI, I highly recommend to check these places and businesses out!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Firstly, I need to give a massive shoutout to my parents, sisters, and extended family- they’ve been my rock since day 1. Aside from my family, two other very important people have been my chest surgeon and trainer. Dr. John Densmore, completely changed/saved me when I went under a life-altering chest surgery in 2015, and a year later I fully recovered and developed my passion for fitness thanks to my fitness trainer Josh Garrison. Without the impact my family, Dr. Densmore, and Josh have all had on me, the idea of Streignth never would have been created.
