Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career consists of serving others. As the Founder of DoV Club, I am able to mentor girls and empower through lthem in their growth and development through DoV Club’s Seven Principles. Our DoV Participants will be future female leaders, breaking barriers in traditional environments promoting inclusion and building partnerships with other leaders in their community.
What sets me apart from others is my passion to mentor and empower young women to learn, lead, and love. Also, to maximize their growth and development throgugh DoV Club’s Seven Principles and give back to their communities. I am proud and excited to see how DoV Club is growing in after-school programs and partnering with community organizations. I am proud to see the growth in our DoV Participants in their academic achievements and leadership skills, and contributing business and organizations to help DoV Club be a successful non-profit.
First of all, I thank God for His vision for DoV Club and allowing me to lead DoV Club Organization. Also, I am thankful through the support of my family and DoV Club Board Members who help support my vision. There is no I in team and we work together to make DoV Club successful. for all of our DoV Participants and their families. Also the parents of the DoV Club participants are supportive because, they ensure the participants are consistent with attending DoV Club Workshops or their one-on-one DoV Sessions.
Admittedly, DoV Club was a challenge to start because I had the vision, but I needed help to figure out the next steps on how to start DoV Club as a non-profit. In reference to the Bible, James 4:2 “You have not because you ask not.” Therefore, I inquired to a group of people I trusted and who understood my passion for DoV Club.
As a result, DoV Club Board Members were formed, and they were were very effective in helping me through the process of building DoV Club Organization recruiting DoV Club Participants. It truly takes a village to make DoV Club a successful non-profit Organization.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way are to starting DoV Club is to be consistent in what I want, transparent in how I am feeling, prayerful in trusting God, and accepting no from people who do not see my vision for DoV Club. These lessons has taught me to be stronger as a woman, a leader, and to embrace my strengths to overcome these challenging lessons.
Lastly, I want the world to know DoV Club Organization is a non-profit to mentor and empower young ladies to be leaders in their everyday lives and in their future endeavors. More importantly, DoV Club is a sisterhood to build and make life long connections as women because at the end of the day “I am my sister’s keeper.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m vegan and a foodie so I would take my friend to some of the vegan restaurants in the city. For example The Grain Cafe in Redondo Beach has great food with lots of choices vegan style. Then we would walk over to the Redondo Pier and enjoy the beach. Definitely we would go to Hollywood, because people think when they visit California, they will see actors and actresses in Hollywood. Another fun place would be Disneyland beacuse who doesn’t want to go to Disneyland?
Other fun spots to go would be Universal Studios for a day for some action pack fun! We would people watch at Venice Beach and enjoy the different culture of people. We would go to Beverly Hills and act bougie for a day! We would definitely go shopping at the Citadel Outlets and shop until we drop.
Since I love music we would go to concerts, theatrical plays, and listen to some outdoor Jazz.
With all these places to visit, we would meet some of the most interesting and fun people celebrating diversity and different cultures of people.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize and thank the DoV Club Organization Board Members! Thank you for supporting me and helping to empower our DoV Participants to be our female leaders of tomorrow. There is no I in team and we are the village that makes DoV Club a positive success in our community.
