We had the good fortune of connecting with Tabatha Collymore (TabbsFit) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tabatha Collymore, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The single most important decision that I made that contributed to being successful, is investing my time and money. That is a big part in expanding and growing in whatever your career may be. If you have a plant and you never invest your money and/or time with the plant, then how is it going to grow successfully? Time, money, and marketing (which can fall into place with money), all of these are key factors into being successful and growing. Investing your time goes into perfecting your craft and what you love! It takes time to become the best at what you love to do. Investing YOUR OWN MONEY, is important because if you do not even want to invest into yourself and your craft, why should they? Please invest some money into your marketing scheme too! It is not hard to reach potential clients and/or customers all over this world when we have multiple sources of social media platforms. The world is in your hands, every single day. So, there is no excuse when it comes to proper marketing and being able to connect and show your craft and skills with people from anywhere in the world.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work and my crafts of many careers. I am in the Entrepreneur lane. I am a Wardrobe Stylist and Certified Trainer and Sports Performance Specialist. Before branching out into my own path, I was in the military, in which became my foundation to chase my dreams and do what I love the most. It was not an easy road and it is still not an easy road but that specific road that I took was the BEST choice for me and now I am benefiting from it in the most substantial way. It was a blessing! Overcoming challenges and still dealing with certain disabilities all comes with keeping faith. I keep my faith and I keep my positive, loving, and silly energy. It is easier said than done but it can be done. I was just lucky enough to have an amazing family and friends that helps me cope. They help me cope more than they know!
My Brand, TabbsFit, is important to me and that is my name through all social media platforms. I have T-Shirt printing company within my brand that I am very excited about. Shirts, Pants, Hats, Mugs, Etc. There are so many creative directions to go. Sports Sponsorships, Family Gatherings, Etc. Whatever you may need, we can get it done. My professional fashion styling is for all events, music videos, professional photo-shoots, award shows, and fashion shows. My portfolio can be found on my website, www.tabbs-fit.com, along with any additional information that you may need. I have worked fashion shows and photo-shoots. I have been a creative director on set and helping to create the visuals for the upcoming events.
My Personal Training business is first come, first serve slotted for the upcoming months due to Covid-19 and just playing it safe. All sessions are 1V1 ONLY. There are virtual sessions too! Everything comes in package! Dieting, Training Sessions, At-Home Guides, Fitness Tips and Health-Based Tips. I also do, Sports Performance as a Specialist, which is dealt upon request and details are discussed upon the client and me.
Something that I have learned during my journey is to have proper timing, investing, patience, and being well organized. Organization is very important. Especially when you have multiple businesses, it can all be done. Do not be sad or hang your head low if you hear a no or if you do not make as many sales as you want to. Just keep pushing! Once you see that first sale, that is all you will need to keep thriving. It is like basketball, once a shooter sees that ball fall and points are put on the board, that is all they needed for the rest of that confidence throughout the rest of the game. So, keep going. Keep pushing! Never get discouraged. PSA, my team, and I will have a cannabis line coming soon in California. Stay tuned and look out for that on all my social media platforms. Thank you!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My first favorite place would be to go to, El Matador Beach. That is one of the most beautiful trips you can take. It has amazing views while you just drive alongside the ocean all the way down until you get to your destination. Next place would be Venice beach! It is such an attraction from the skateboarding and the basketball tournaments that happen on the beach. So, it is a sight to see for firstcomers. Places to eat and drink, there are so many including the food trucks. So many options, so many places. My go to place is, Cabo Cantina, Hollywood. This is my favorite place to be during big sports games! Plus, the food is AMAZING! You will not regret it.
Hollywood has many places to just go see and take pictures of. The dancers on the walk of fame are full of entertainment. You have the paintings and murals all over DTLA and Hollywood that you can go explore and see. The Hollywood sign! The top of Runyon Canyon is beautiful if you ever get the chance to take that hike up there. It truly is a wonderful feeling to get up there and just look over the entire city. Culver City Stairs is another adventure with great city views once you get to the top line.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This shoutout and credit is all due to my family and my best friend. They are all my backbone in their own different ways of support and being there for me when I needed it the most. They are always teaching me new ways and explaining common things that I may not be able to understand. Just passing down knowledge and creativity, I am beyond blessed to have them in my corner. I love you all so much, even if I do not say it all the time. You all are appreciated and loved beyond a level of understanding. My military family support means just as much as much to me as well. I love you guys too and cannot wait to be reunited with all of you. Thank you all for being the first ones to always support me on any given day, no matter what it is. You all are always in my corner!
