We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanisha Pitts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been afforded many great job opportunities throughout my career trajectory. It molded me into a multifaceted woman, who, yet still had much to learn. My predominant career path led me to an executive administrative path. In those roles, I worked under many brilliant minds in very esteemed places. It was engaging. This is what I longed. The intellect. The value. The success. I quickly learned that I had to develop my own establishment to achieve my heart’s desires. I decided to create an opportunity that replenished my cup – a cup to warm my heart – a cup to fill my soul. I had a vision, an affinity with dreams – always. This very idea propelled me to become a business owner which birthed the beginning of my company, Dreamy Vegan.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Dreamy Vegan is a premium artisanal vegan ice cream brand. We craft creamy non-dairy frozen desserts using fresh fruits with coconut milk base and turn them into whimsically dreamy popsicle shapes.
It begun like a beautiful work of art, like an enchanted dream. A dream full of childlike wonder and nostalgic merriment. Dreamy Vegan is made from that premise of majestic joy and moments of delight. It’s fun, dreamy, it’s whimsical… eliciting endearing moments with family and delightful nostalgic memories from your childhood.
We are changing how the world views vegan food by offering a creamy spin to vegan ice cream without compromising the quality and taste.
Dreamy Vegan is also earth-friendly by practicing sustainability with eco-friendly packaging and repurposing leftover ingredients into sustainable recipes.
Dreamy Vegan provides a truly whimsical awakening of all senses by serving sweet dreams you can taste!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Transparently speaking, I have been such a recluse lately. I would have to dig in my mental archives for these particular local spots.
Mental archive:
I’d suggest traveling along scenic routes where nature greets them with welcoming hello that’s lit in demure skylines. Typically, the surrounding beach areas would suffice. Malibu. Venice. Newport. Huntington. All great beaches.
For consumerism thrills, I’d recommend supporting local businesses.
Food-wise, restaurants with alluring beachfront views such as The Bungalow Kitchen and Maya’s Hotel’s Fuego in Downtown Long Beach – my hometown. One of my favorite restaurants that offer culture with zesty flavors are Gypsy’s or Open Sesame – both equally incredible. And, Margot in Culver City is simply delicious.
For attire and accessories, places like Native Sol and Shades of Afrika are full of fashion and culture. Twig & Willow and Prism are some fun favs.
Want some quick grub on-the-go? Try Nice Guys in Santa Ana and Costa Mesa for some tasty vegan fast food.
For revitalizing juices and vegan snacks, venture to Salud in Long Beach.
FYI – You can also purchase Dreamy Vegan ice cream bars from Nice Guys and Salud
Want an immersive experience? The Van Gogh Experience looks exhilarating and lively.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Part of my inspiration for Dreamy Vegan derives from my beautiful late great-great grandmother, Mattie “Meme” Davis. If it wasn’t for her, my amazing mother, great-grandfather, sisters, nieces and nephews…. Uncles, aunties, cousins, God-brothers and sisters… yes, I’m close to them all. They give me love I need to sustain. God, my spiritual source and miracle worker – always providing peace and solace. Additionally, every supporter who have encouraged me, inspired me, and empowered me to pursue my dreams… I am truly grateful!
