We had the good fortune of connecting with Tristan Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tristan, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Well when it really boils down to it, the simplest way I can put it is to never give up. Easier said than done, right? I’ve had numerous experiences where I asked myself if I want to keep going or not. There’s been times where I had given up, and wished I didn’t. The best feeling is when I muster up the strength to continue on whatever the venture is. There will always be times where you make the decision to give up or to not. Never give up.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My music is a sonic representation of myself and what I feel/go through as a human in everyday life. Some days are great, others not so much, and for some reason my music always feels better to me when days aren’t so great… There’s nothing more emotionally capturing than music in my opinion, so I try to keep that in my mind. I want to create something that isn’t just heard, but felt. It’s been a long journey getting to where I am currently, and there’s still a long road ahead. Think of each body of work as a twist or turn on a never ending road to bliss. I learn something new about the road from each turn, I learn from each experience, and this is what I try to capture with my art.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OK, I’m going to jump right into food here… Howlin’ Rays is one of the best Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches i’ve ever had, so if theres time…I’m going there. Another one of my favorite food spots is Town Pizza in Echo Park. Other than food, I wouldn’t consider this in the city, but Sequoia is absolutely beautiful. I love nature spots so I’d probably just take my friends/family to a bunch of different hiking and food spots. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout my close family and close friends. You know who you are. I wouldn’t be who or where I am today without you all. Love.
