“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” This one is my favorite. I would say and you will work like never before haha. I work on weekends, on holidays, while on vacations. But it is a different kind of work. At the end of the day, the feeling of gratitude and satisfaction is there. I feel like there is such a constant push to be evermore efficient and productive, and I really hate it. There’s pressure to be constantly creating, and with this whole social media era it’s not not even art. It’s relegated to content creation. If content is what the latest algorithm wants, I don’t want to be a part of it. It’s hard as an artist not to be influenced by what it seems like the internet wants. Read more>>

A piece of advice I was given when starting out in the industry was to focus on one aspect of filmmaking and network in that direction. While I do agree you will get far in the marketability aspect of that theory, I wholeheartedly believe that to be a great filmmaker and team player you must understand and respect each department of filmmaking. One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is doing something you love to make a living . From a person that was so in live with the beauty industry I can say that I have made certain decisions solely because I love what I do and this can be hindering in business. I believe you should like what you do to make money enough that you will not allow anyone to hinder it or short change you .
