We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Holly, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy? Dancing!!!!!! Dancing changes your vibration, it raises your vibration. Movement is so good for your body and brain. Exercise casts out negative thoughts from your mind, but it can be hard to bring yourself to it because it’s not always fun. It doesn’t necessarily make you happy. But it can if you add joy to the mix and that joy for me is great music. The winning combination of listening to music that makes me feel inspired to move to it and then making space to actually allow myself the freedom to dance to it with abandon is like nothing else. Liberation, Freedom, Movement, and Music all rolled into one- Dancing with abandon makes me so happy. I can do it alone, but add friends into the mix and you got a party going on, and that makes me really happy.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer/songwriter and I have a band called OSO My Brain, you can find us in the links below. I have several co-writes on Jesse Malin’s new album Sad and Beautiful World, which comes out Sept 24th, as well as a few co-writes on his last album, the critically acclaimed Sunset Kids, produced by Grammy-winning artist Lucinda Williams. you can read more about my work here http://voyagela.com/interview/
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to a movie at Hollywood Forever cemetery, where I can see a great film in a historic setting along with beautiful cool people, maybe bring some take out from M de Chaya or Formosa.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Greendoor! The GreendoorNYC was a business I was part of in New York City. I was one of the DJs and when i wasn’t spinning songs I was dancing the night away, which was transformational.
