We had the good fortune of connecting with Tonice Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tonice, is there something you believe many others might not?
Stick to what you know. This is horrible advice! I spoke to a junior high class and told them “try everything!” You never know what your niche is, you never know what you’ll fall in love with. You might like to draw but then realize it’s architecture you truly love, now instead of pictures you’re doing mansions and installations. Try everything!
What should our readers know about your business?
TwoSides Marketing Consulting is the name of my business. The idea for my business came from me constantly assisting my friends with their marketing and self-employment endeavors, to the point I had to stop myself from giving away TOO much game. Lol I assist businesses in finding their target audience and ensuring their using the relevant mediums for their product to reach the maximum number of potential customers. I am most proud of the idea for the name of the company. As a lesbian, black woman, I know the importance of getting your story out before anyone can misconstrue your words or the idea of who you are. The name TwoSides came from the notion there are two sides to every story, and my company wants to get your story to both sides of the argument. Our goal is to articulate your brand/story to audiences who would never know they needed your product. There are people who might not like the owner of a company, but they still love the product. Perfect example, Chik-Fil-A. Their product is so good, the message the company represents is often over shadowed by it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First thing I would do is cook the night they arrive. I love cooking and just set up my balcony with an amazing view. Next, would be a good morning hike followed by a meal at a great breakfast spot, such as the Great Maple. Go to Top Golf that evening and road trip the rest of the weekend. I love traveling and adventure so we’d Yelp the best spots along the way and have an adventure!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents deserve 85% of the credit for my success. They drove me to never be complacent and taught me even if I fail, I’m not a failure. My family composite the rest of my support system. They always encouraged me to be myself and be creative. I was always eccentric and eclectic and they never shunned that. 💜
