We had the good fortune of connecting with Yuanchen Jiang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yuanchen, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Apply yourself to everything you choose to do.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
[We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others?] Be clear about your passion. Don’t lose your own voice/ aesthetic. Try to find the balance between your inner and outer voice. Be friends with those you admire. Work for a company you feel truly connected with. [What you are most proud of or excited about?] I got excited when seeing works that inspiring/ meaningful. [How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?] “Try again. Fail again. Fail better.” [What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?] Thinking through things. [What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?] It is still under development.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A few places in LA I would recommend: The Huntington Library, Getty Museum, Universal Studio, USC, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Angel City Brewery, LA downtown Art District, Local farm market, Go to the beach and watch a sunrise or sunset. Leave a day to lose yourself in the city, woods, or desert and enjoying the fun of exploring. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to take the chance to give appreciation to my professors from CAFA and Yale School of Art. To all my colleges, teammates, and directors from previous projects. Last but not least is my family.
